Taking a walk on 'The Sunny Side of the Street' is my way of saying I'm choosing to look at the positive in life.  That's not to say that a cloud or two doesn't try to block the sun, or an occassional rain storm comes my way.  As the song says, "Life's sweet.  Just direct your feet to the sunny side of the street."

Sunshine, Coffee, and Tball

The weather has been absolutely beautiful here the past few days!  Very unusual for this area, so I have taken full advantage of it and spent a lot of time outdoors.  Problem is I burn.  I might be a little tan by the end of summer, but I have never been one to get a really nice summer glow.  It's usually  a cycle of burn, peel, burn, peel, burn, peel for me.  I thought I was doing good by putting sunscreen on my face, shoulders, and back.  However, my pasty, white legs desperately needed to get some sun, and so I put nothing on them.  Big mistake!

A friend offered to help me move some more of Mt. Mongold (the dirt pile in the yard), and so I took her up on it.  But after an hour of step class, and three hours of digging and moving the dirt around leveling the yard I was so done.  I couldn't lift the shovel anymore and my back, shoulders, and part of my legs were fried.  Yes, only part of my legs.  Why is it that I can't even burn evenly?!  The only part of my legs that got any color, and lobster red at that, is the backs of my knees.  Not a very comfortable thing let me tell you.  Cross your legs when you sit?  Nope.  You can bend them for a while, but the heat gets to be too much, so then you stretch them out which pulls on the skin.  Ouch is all I have to say.  Tomorrow: SPF 50, or I have to just hide in the house which is way too hard with this perfect weather.

There were a couple of highlights today.  One was a last minute, late night get-together with a friend at Panera (always a very good thing), and the other was watching a sweet boy play t-ball.  The Kindergarten teacher and myself have both had the privilege of having this handsome guy as a student.  We had promised to make it to one of his ball games, and with this being the second to last game, we had to make it tonight.  I had to re-work some things, but it was so worth it!  His smile, and his proud "thumbs-up" when he got up to bat made my day.  Summer%20'08%20008.jpg

I have been loving the weather! But you know what's funny- it reminds me of fall. And even though it feels like we're just getting out of winter... I can't wait for fall now!

Not me! With fall comes back to school, and back to work for me.

Oh, I love meeting friends at Panera. I didn't discover Panera until I moved out here, and I just LOVE It. I also love going to those little games! How fun! Hope your burn doesn't interrupt your sleep, I hate when that happens.
