I'm not an overly emotional person. I certainly don't put my emotions on display in a grand way. I've been told I can be read like a book if someone takes the time to look at my face to gauge my reaction to something. That is true. Try as I might, I do not have a poker face. But as far as being a crier or getting sentimental and weepy, that's just not me.
Until this week apparently! Since I've come out of the haze of anesthesia, morphine, and codeine, I have been crying at everything. It's getting to be ridiculous. I cried at all the sweet comments people have left on my blog and fb page. I cry when people are kind and send me cards or bring me meals. For pity's sake, I cried whenI watched Bride Wars! Give me a tear-jerking scene in a movie or commercial, and I'm done in. What in the world?!?
I don't like this. I need it to stop. Now!
I'm no longer feeling like Eeyore (thankfully.) No matter. I started doing some research for next school year. If I can figure out what theme I'm going to use in my room, I can start making lists and plans, and even maybe some of the stuff I'll need. I'm excited! Last year, as many of you know, my class theme was monkeys. This year I've narrowed it down to two choices. Camping or World Travel. The camping one is more fun and easy to decorate the room in. I love to camp, and I have lots of props I could use. Also, I can bring in lots of themed teaching units on the forest, animals, weather, and nature. I like one idea I read that said you call your class "Camp Wannalearnalot." I love it!
The World Travel theme sounds pretty neat too though. I would make different areas of the room different parts of the world. Each child would have a pretend passport and as we learned about different parts of the world they could get their passport stamped. Since I teach in a Christian Academy, I can tie in lots of Biblical applications too! I could teach about transportation, different cultures, and geography. Both seem like something I could get excited about teaching. Also, I'm moving rooms. I'm going from one large room to two smaller rooms connected with a bathroom. So, I need to figure out how to work that out. I have some ideas :)
I'm going to do some more searches today and get some more ideas for both themes. Marissa, my oldest daughter, has already voted for the camping theme. What do you think?
